Description

Look for a walking tour guide at the Fort Recovery State Museum. The pamphlet explains every landmark in great detail.

The southernmost terminus on this walking tour visits the oldest cemetery in Mercer County, used as a temporary burial place for the victims of the Battle of Fallen Timbers and St. Clair's Defeat. Follow the tour through downtown until you reach the obelisk at 0.5 miles in Monument Park. This obelisk sits above a burial vault for more victims of the battles that occurred here.

Follow Boundary Street heading west until you pass the visitor's center. Turn left and walk 100 feet south on Wayne Street before turning right and passing Krenning Park housing two of the best murals in town. Across Fort Site Street is the Fort Recovery State Museum, about 0.8 miles in. Walk through the park ahead of you reading the signs detailing the events that occurred here in the 1790's. The trail eventually turns left and follows the youthful Wabash River before ending at a footbridge crossing the historical river.
