Parking is limited at the trailhead and gets busy on nice summer days when everyone swimming at Cosen's Bay tries to leave their vehicle outside the no parking zone to access the beach.

Section Of

Description

One of six segments of the Okanagan High Rim Trail, this steep section is a reasonable day hike from Vernon to an excellent viewpoint of Kalmalka lake. The initial ascent from Cosen's Bay is through cycling trails so be aware of potentially fast moving bikers. The view from the tower is excellent and, on fine days, a good place to rest and enjoy some lunch.

Flora & Fauna

There is a very large grove of edible Saskatoon berries about 1 km along the trail from the Cosen's Bay trailhead parking. In late July these trees are loaded with juicy berries and make for a good stop at the end of a hot hiking day.
