Description

Moderately easy trail with several switchbacks that navigates some ridges and washes on the flanks of Mingus mountains. There's a large parking lot after about a half mile of unpaved road.

From there, the trailhead is marked by a map. For this loop, head to the right along a well-marked trail that starts out heading slightly down hill.

The trail wanders around some knolls and through some dry washes. Keep taking left hand turns where the trail is well marked. Make the left at a sharp left hand turn and start an easy and steady ascent on a trail marked as 0557 on the map. Keep making the left hand choice of trails to complete the loop.

After climbing to the top of a ridge, the trail begins a long zig-zag descent back to the trailhead. There are views in all directions, including Sedona, Sycamore Canyon and Jerome at various points on the trail.
