Need to Know
There is private property on both ends of this trail. Keep this in mind if you are thinking of trying to park along the roads instead of at the parking lot in Belgatos park or along Ramohs Way.
Description
The Fire Road Trail is a paved road in Santa Rosa Preserve that drops down from Harwood Court road and climbs up to Madera Court road. You can access the trail by taking the
Ridge Trail from the parking lot in Belgatos Park. The trail can be linked with the
Ridge Trail, Madera Court, Santa Rosa Drive, and
Santa Rosa Trail to create a nice loop hike.
The trail drops downhill before it starts climbing up the hillside. The trail is paved the entire way and is covered by trees until it makes it to the top of the trail. The trees that line the trail provide shade from the sun. The trail climbs uphill, steeply in some section before coming out of the woods where you can get a glimpse of the surrounding hills and some of Silicon Valley.
The trail ends at a gate on Madera Court. From here, you can turn around and follow the trail back to your vehicle, or take a left onto Madera Court and link up with Santa Rosa Road and
Santa Rosa Trail to make a loop.
Flora & Fauna
Deer, Turkeys, and Coyotes can be seen in the park. There are a variety of birds in the trees that line the trail, making it good for bird watching.
