Description
This trail is a portion of the network through the Lake Proctor Wilderness Area offering views of the lake. The trail starts at the
Red Trail about 1/3 mile from the parking lot. The junction is well marked with a sign pointing out the different options. The trail initially heads west through the forest for a short distance until reaching the edge of the lake.
At this point it turns north and mostly follows the lake shore for about 1/2 mile before veering back into the woods for a short distance and then emptying into a doubletrack fire line that leads back east to rejoin the
Red Trail. There is also a rain shelter at the northwestern point in case the weather tries to interrupt your hike.
The trail itself is mostly singletrack and is well worn so quite easy to follow despite multiple twists and turns. It is also marked with blue blazes to help with navigation. The ground is generally firm, but because the trail does follow the lakeshore, some of the areas of lower ground can be muddy or flooded when water levels are higher.
