Description

This trail can be done in either direction - clockwise or counter-clockwise. Either way the best place to start is the White Trail parking lot (4x4 or high-clearance vehicle - at least a standard SUV or crossover - recommended as the dirt road is a bit rough).

Take the South Rim Trail south out of the parking lot. The trail is pretty well-marked with white paint spots on the rock. This trail itself does not have signage yet at the fork, so use the app to track your position and make sure you take the correct turn. Along the southern edge, the trail runs onto the rock outcroppings with dropoffs down the side of the mesa.

This is definitely a trail for the sure-footed. It is primarily a mountain bike trail, so if ever there is a place where the trail seems to disappear, look for tire tracks. On the slick rock sections, ask yourself if a mountain bike could likely navigate. The trail will resume where the bikes can go.
