Overview

The Mission to Monument peak is approximately 10 mi point to point hike. The highlight of which are the 2 miles of Mission Peak to Monumnet Peak Trail.

Description

This is a point-to-point hike starting from Ohlone College and ending at Ed Levin Park. This has three distinguished segments - 1) Ohlone college trailhead to Mission Peak using Peak trail, 2) Mission Peak to Monument Peak and 3) Monument Peak to Ed Levin's parking lot using either Agua Caliente Trail or Monument Peak Trail.

I suggest to start from Ohlone college end. The segment to Mission Peak is heavily trafficked and passing it earlier is better to avoid traffic and temperature. The downhill segment in Ed Levin has light traffic and provides excellent views of the SJ city.

Weather permitting, hikers can expect more than wide views of the South Bay Area. This park is popular with paragliders, which makes it a unique backpacking experience.

I saw up to four paragliders at a time one early April afternoon. This park has three launch points along Agua Caliente Trail and Monument Peak Rd.
