Overview

This trail runs from the campground up to an excellent viewpoint.

Description

This trail starts off one of the campground roads, at the wooden gate. Follow the red plastic markers and turn left (uphill) at the sign for Sunset Rock. At the top of the hill, the trail turns left to follow the ridge. The Yellow Trail comes in from the left and coincides with the Sunset Rock Trail.

Here, three trails coincide as one; Sunset Rock Trail, Yellow Trail and South Taconic Trail. Gray Birch (Yellow) Trail turns left, where the trail levels out, while Sunset Rock Trail turns right. It passes by Cedar Brook (Blue)Trail and stays straight. After tunneling through the Mountain Laurel and scraggly Pines, you'll come to a sign for Sunset Rock. Turn left and travel downhill to Sunset Rock. This area offers stunning views, especially during sunset.

Flora & Fauna

Flora: White Oak, Witch-Hazel, White Birch, Bearberry, Wintergreen, Mountain Laurel.
