Overview
This is a classic hike on the Costa Brava where you'll follow in the footsteps of Salvador Dalí and many other artists. The lighthouse at the end is unremarkable but the journey affords excellent views of Cadaqués and its bay as well as the Mediterranean Sea. Bring a swimsuit and enjoy a dip at Sa Sabolla shortly before the lighthouse.
Need to Know
This trail is often windy. Dress appropriately.
Description
It's debatable where the start should be located. I've put it at Plaça del Passeig at the heart of town. From here, follow the water along Riba Meesi Llor, Riba Pitxot, and Carrer del Doctor Bartomeus, Carrer de Sa Jorneta. This gets to small area of free parking which could be an alternative starting spot.
Proceed to Platja sa Conca, clipping the south end before beginning the ascent on Carrer des Quers, which almost immediately offers excellent view of Cadaqués. Soon the route turns into a wide packed dirt trail with a narrow stone section near Sa Sabolla.
The main trail bypasses Sa Sabolla but it is only a short diversion and you might enjoy a dip here. One last small climb achieves the lighthouse. The whole trail can be windy, the lighthouse especially so.
History & Background
Cadaqués has a special place in art history. It is mostly famously associated with Salvador Dalí visited Cadaqués often in his childhood and later built a house in Port lligat.
