Ice Age Trail: Pike Lake Segment

No parking is allowed on Glassgo Dr. There is also parking within the Pike Lake Unit for a fee. A State Parks pass also is accepted here.

This is a busy trail that that is mostly forested but also contains some open prairies and grasslands. The start of the trail on the west end is located on Hwy E.

The trail starts as singletrack and quickly descends through a forested section. The trail is closely bordered by barbed wire, so be careful to not stray far off the trail. Afterward, take a left on Glassgo Drive to stay on the trail. T

here is only a single small yellow blaze on post with a birdhouse on Glassgo Drive, so make sure to keep an eye out for it if you're not sure which way to turn on Glassgo Drive. The trail continues as a doubletrack to the right after Glassgo Drive ends. Here you enter the Pike Lake Unit of the Kettle Moraine State Forest.

The trail remains marked with a yellow marker but other trails also travel on parts of the Ice Age. There is plenty of opportunity to connect with other trails within the Pike Lake Unit from the trail. The trail will go by the parking lot of the Pike Lake Unit and you can see Pike Lake.

The trail starts to climb with an option to take a short trail to an observation tower at the top of the hill. It levels out shortly after splitting with the tower trail. About a quarter mile after this, there is a confusing fork where both trails appear to be marked with yellow blazes. A map at the fork provides clarification:stay to the right! After the fork the trail once again becomes singletrack and is flat but windy.

After passing the backpacking campsites, take a level on Hwy CC to stay on the trail until it ends at the intersection with Hwy 60. The Slinger Segment of the Ice Age starts across from the intersection.
