Need to Know
There are no fees, and parking is free in an ample gravel lot.
Description
This well-maintained and regularly mown loop trail through 105 acres of restored prairie grass provides a pleasant hike and opportunities for birding within walking distance of Bluffton. From the parking lot the two halves of the loop head south, twice connecting via shortcut for hikers without the time to tackle the whole mile and a half. Beautiful interpretive signs along the way describe prairie wildlife, and birdhouses are maintained to encourage native species of bird.
Along the southeast edge of the loop the trail approaches the floodplain of the Little Riley and provides views of the wetland ecosystem along the creek.
