Dogs Leashed
Description
This trail is the access for Green Lake Trail #31E03 from the west side and provides an alternate to road hiking if trying to connect
Bishop Pass Trail and
Piute Pass Trail when doing the
North Lake to South Lake Loop. It is heavily used by stock, so obstacles other than mud are unlikely.
If starting from South Lake, access to the trail is found at either end of the parking lot. It climbs as it proceeds north and has a couple good views of the valley before starting down again. Green Lake Trail is clearly signed along the descent. It passes near meadows along the way and can have some nice wildflowers including tiger lilies in the spring. Another road access can be found near the general store at Parchers Resort near where the old road meets the new road.
To get all the way to
Tyee Lakes Trail, continue north along the trail or the old road past the stables. The road becomes abandoned, but is still used as trail by the packers and backpackers. It can become flooded in the spring thaw, but is flat and easy to follow. It finishes at a gate at the end of Willow Camp, across South Lake Road from parking for
Tyee Lakes Trail.
