Need to Know
There are multiple access points to the trail. Besides Donegal Road, parking can be found at Holy Hill (bathrooms and picnic areas here), Shannon Road, and on the side of the road at Pleasant View Road.
Description
This is a popular singletrack trail that is quite challenging for the first few miles but becomes much more forgiving afterward. Start at the Donegal Road trailhead. You can park on the side of the road.
You are immediately taken up and down through wooded hilly terrain with some steep sections. There are multiple side trails here, so make sure to follow the yellow IAT blazes. There is an option to climb up to a viewpoint of Holy Hill though a well marked side trail. The trail starts to flatten out a bit after crossing Holy Hill Road (Hwy 167).
Here the woods clears and you are taken through nice flat prairies. Take a right on Pleasant Hill Rd to follow trail on the road for 0.5 miles. After Pleasant Hill Road the trail alternates between wooded gentle hills and hiking through or alongside farm fields. Once you hit Glassgo Road, the trail runs along the road for another quarter mile or so before peeling off for a hundred feet to the end of the trail at Hwy E.
Make sure to take a right on Glassgo Road when the trail meets with the road-this intersection can be a little confusing.
