Need to Know

From Grant Ave., take Crystal Trail about 0.25 miles until the 3-way intersection with Thomas Trail and Kirkpatrick Trail. Take a left and follow GREEN trail markers. There are a few well-marked intersections; follow GREEN trail markers to stay on the trail. This trail unceremoniously ends at a private property boundary.

Description

Technical and narrow singletrack with large rocks and roots adorn the trail. Despite this, the footing is solid and the technicality makes for a pleasant experience Unlike some trails in the region, Kirkpatrick Trail does NOT feature slippery crushed gravel that makes for dangerous and frustrating hiking. Despite the high volume of downed or dying trees, GMF trail volunteers have done a great job at trail maintenance and brush clearing.

There are some views, but this trail is best done as a connector rather than a destination in and of itself.
