Need to Know
No parking fees at the Packers Bay Road trailhead.
Fees are required when parking at the Packers Bay Boat ramp parking lot. There is a restroom at the boat ramp parking lot.
Description
There are two trail heads, one accessed from Packers Bay Road and the other is accessed from the Packers Bay boat ramp parking lot.
Trail is singletrack dirt. About a third of the trail parallels Shasta Lake shoreline, with access for fishing, some of the access is steep. Trail distance from the lake depends on lake level.
The trail itself is loose dirt/rock in the summer with plenty of shade. The portion of the trail by the lake is mostly flat. When starting from the Packers Bay Road trailhead, there is a long decent to the lake. When starting from the Backers Bay Boat ramp trailhead, there is a long uphill ascent over the mountain, then decent to the lake. The slopes are not too steep.
Trail can be used in either direction. With Packer's Bay Road used to make a complete loop.
