“Very family friendly trail that is easy to navigate with lots to look at.
”
Family Friendly
Easy trail, well shaded. There are a few overlooks with benches. Bridges over little creeks, and stairs on a steeper section.
Description
On the first north leg after leaving the parking area, there is a picnic shelter at the north edge of the prairie just before you enter the woods. Continuing north, there are two "overlooks" that are both off to the right. Make the first right turn at the trail intersection.
The next intersection is marked with Rt71 and Van Emmon Rd directional signs. Lots of roots, and rocks, and a few low muddy areas. Heavily shaded and very diverse landscape for such a flat area.
Walked a few times with my 3-year-old and he makes it the whole way in about 45 minutes.
Flora & Fauna
We have seen deer, squirrels, chipmunks and many birds. There are also lots of cool fungus growing on the trees, many of them fallen or cut.
