Description
The trailhead parking is near the halfway point of the trail, providing an opportunity to hike either way, downhill or uphill.
Downhill from the trailhead, the trail takes a switchback and dives into a mature forest, crossing several small bridges over creeks. It's green, peaceful, and an easy hike. The trail ends at the same road you drove in on, and the hiker will need to head back up to the trailhead.
Uphill from the trailhead climbs quickly into a recent clear-cut that is filled with wildflowers in the spring, though watch out for thistle. It can be nice to get some sun while hiking in the PNW, so enjoy the openness. There are good views of the forest all around. The trail heads back into the trees and ends on the road again, further up from where you parked. Turn and follow the trail back to the parking area.
The nearby Coal Creek Trail is closed due to extensive trail damage from flooding and storms. There are dangerously unstable bridges that need to be repaired. Please stay off closed trails for your own safety.
