After the car you going up into the open and on your way to Shelter Rock. Roughly 2.5 km you'll come across the Shelter Rock, a big boulder which is climbable and where the hike gets its name. After the boulder its onwards and upwards towards the summit. This section a rough rocky terrain, pretty strenuous but well with it when you reach the summit.
Now you are on the summit, man what a view. From the summit you'll be able to see across Hekpoort, the cradle of humankind and Magaliesburg. Now that you have rested and got your breath back, it's time to head down. The down climb is not to bad, some loose rocks and stones here and there, so foot placement must be focused on.
