This is a nice and easy trail through old-growth forest that parallels Toms Run. Throughout the trail, it crosses several bridges. However, the first bridge (at the time of writing) is closed because of structural issues and, thus, requires a mildly tricky crossing via stepping stones. It continues along the run and gives views of both old-growth trees and a landscape that has been very passively managed. The trail is well maintained, but is not, in fact, marked. The terminus of the trail is across a swing bridge that traverses the run. This is a nice and somewhat hidden feature that is fun for the whole family.
Flora & Fauna
This trail is on the edge of the Forest Cathedral Natural Area which is the largest area of old-growth white pine in the US.
