Description

This trail starts at the Valle Vista Staging Area. Initially it follows the northeastern shore of the Upper San Leandro Reservoir through grassy ranch land before making a sharp left turn ascending to the ridge above. As the trail continues to ascend, once on the eastern side of the ridge the scenery turns from pastures to woodlands.

After the peak of trail it quickly descends, once more giving way to open pastures. About half way down the descent, the trail takes an abrupt right hand turn and changes into a singletrack for the remainder of the way down.

Once at the bottom, you have the option of either looping back to the Valle Vista Staging area on the King Canyon trail, or continuing on Rocky Ridge trail for a much longer hike.

Part of Kings Canyon Loop Trail. Partially shaded trail with nice view of Upper San Leandro Reservoir. It has a nice incline to work out your glutes!
