Overview
This easy and short loop leads all the way around Lake Wintergreen and provides views of West Rock. Additionally, it traverses scenic, exposed rocks and roots on the
Red/White Trail.
Description
This trail begins at the Lake Wintergreen parking area in West Rock Ridge State Park following the
White Trail. This section of the trail is pretty flat, wide, and is mostly covered in pine needles. This part of the loop includes the first really good views of the lake.
The loop then turns off of the
White Trail and onto the
Red/White Trail. This part of the loop narrows and traverses some large, exposed rocks which are scenic but can also be challenging. Because of this, the
Red Trail is recommended for a slightly easier hike. The trail then goes over a small bridge above a dam and continues on a small dike. It then merges back into the
Red Trail and continues to its terminus at the Lake Wintergreen parking area.
