Need to Know
You must register your stay at the pull off on the road shortly before the trailhead.
Description
The trail starts at Spada Lake which is a water reservoir and follows the lake along what looks like an old road. There are some dips and some small stream crossings but nothing too bad. The trail then gets to the old Greider Lakes trailhead and it is a pretty continuous uphill from there on a narrow path up. It takes many switchbacks, along some rocks, over logs, roots, and steep ladders to get up to the first lake.
The path from the old trailhead can be very very muddy at times and sometimes has water rushing down the trail. The higher elevation has significantly more rainfall than down below. The second lake is a just a short distance away. Both lakes have great backpacking spots with fire pits with grates and the flat level spots for tents. The lake has very few flying insects. There are great bathroom facilities at the start, near the middle, and at the lakes.
