Description
Pala Seca Trail is found in the quiet northern corner of the Joseph D. Grant County Park backcountry. Pala Seca Trail splits off of
Canada de Pala Trail at the 6.5-mile mark of
Canada de Pala Trail. When hiking north on
Canada de Pala Trail, go right/north at this trail fork. Pala Seca Trail continues on the grassy ridge top that
Canada de Pala Trail is on here. Going left at this fork, one drops down into a broad creek valley, as they continue on
Canada de Pala Trail.
After splitting from
Canada de Pala Trail, Pala Seca Trail begins with a short climb, and then flattens out for the remainder of its route atop the grassy ridge. The views are awesome! To the right/east are the rugged Diablo Range hills that seem to go on forever. To the left/southwest the blue Santa Cruz mountains stretch across the horizon. Behind/south faintly in the very far distance one can see the Monterey Peninsula on a clear day. Up ahead on the left/northwest in the distance, metropolitan Bay Area sprawls below. Nearby on the left are the hills and valleys of beautiful Joseph D. Grant County Park.
Pala Seca Trail ends at a trail junction at the northern end of
Canada de Pala Trail.
Antler Point Trail is also found at this trail junction and continues for another 0.4 miles on the ridge to an awesome viewpoint.
