Need to Know
Plenty of parking at Gilford Elementary School where the trail starts.
Description
Mount Rowe Trail follows a moderate incline the majority of the way up. The trail is well marked with blue blazes and well maintained. There are several trails that fork off so be careful.
At approximately 0.6 miles up from the trailhead, you have an option for the shortcut
Yellow Trail, which is steeper and not maintained. Continue on Mount Rowe Trail and you instead go up the mountain via several switchbacks. If there are no leaves on the trees you might get some partial views to the west on the way up the switchbacks. There's a little picnic table bar at 1.3 miles up the trail with some decent western views.
Otherwise, continue up the trail until it meets up with the
Belknap Range Trail and you can follow that to some decent views of Gunstock Mountain, partial views of Lake Winnipesaukee and a cell tower at the very top of Mount Rowe. To the summit via Mount Rowe Trail and
Belknap Range Trail is 2.1 miles.
