Overview

This is an awesome loop with great views. A steady climb followed by a quick descent on trails with lots of views.

Need to Know

There are many restrooms at the trailhead. Access to the trailhead is very easy, on a paved road all the way through.

Description

We started on the super trail towards Josephine Saddle. The climb is not terribly steep and the trail provides some awesome views. Sprung Spring is very close to the saddle. We stopped for a rest there and ate a snack and filled up some water, some of the best tasting water ever!

The saddle was very windy. We planned to camp the night, but there were not many spots on the Super Trail and very few spots at the saddle. Luckily, we found a good spot with enough windbreak to help shield us through the night. It was a relatively cold night for the beginning of March.

The next morning it was raining, so we hid in the tent for a bit until it calmed down. After packing up we started to head back to the car and it began raining again. The fog and the clouds made for some awesome views. The descent to the trailhead down the Old Badly Trail #372 is relatively quick. Old Baldy links up with a two-track that takes you past a picnic area to the trailhead.

Overall it was a very fun trail, probably better suited to a day hike than a backpack, but would definitely hike this trail again in the future.
