A short trail to a small lake where children can explore nature, especially ducks and birds.
Open 8am to sunset.
Description
Grant Lake Trail starts on an unmarked dirt road at the northwest end of the parking area (on your left if you are facing into the hills, with your back to Mt. Hamilton Rd.)
As one goes up the gradual rise at the start of Grant Lake Trail, there is a fork in the trail. From here, the trail loops around and returns to this point. Go left at this fork to hike the trail clockwise as described here.
After the trail fork, one tops the rise and sees Grant Lake ahead, very nearby, and very pretty set in the grass and wooded hills. Descending from the rise, one soon is on the lake's shore. Go right here to continue on to pass reeds and a narrow arm of the lake. This is a great place to see ducks and birds. Reaching the end of the lake's arm, the trail veers right and returns to the fork where the loop started.
Flora & Fauna
Low brush, lakeside reeds. Ducks and a great blue heron.
