Overview
This hike is a loop, which can be started and ended just about anywhere along the route. While not included in the GPS track, there is a palace in the center to explore as well if you are interested.
Need to Know
There are restaurants, cafes, and bathrooms all around, so you can take you time and enjoy the day in relative comfort.
Description
Pick a convenient start point and enjoy the hike around the fortress wall. You can hike along the top of the wall itself, or you can use the adjacent trails on its sides. This is a 100% urban hike, so very low commitment, easy to navigate, and it has access from any form of public transportation in and around the Seoul metropolitan area.
The best part of this trail is that it is lit up at night—it's awesome. In particular, if the air quality is good, you can see the Seoul skyline from some parts.
History & Background
This was originally built under the premise that the capitol was to be moved here from Seoul. Of course that didn't happen, and now Seoul has expanded so much, it is all pretty much part of the same metropolitan area.
