Overview

Head to the summit of one of the most popular peaks in western Crete. The trail is rather straightforward once you reach the trailhead and round-trip it's only 5.4 miles as an out-and-back.

Description

It is indeed an impressive looking mountain, with a large north cliff face looming over the island. And the views from the summit are wonderful. Take your time exploring the top enjoying sights of the Aegean sea, the island costs and the Libyan Sea to the south. You can also see the Samaria gorge from the top and other mountains in the distance.

As you hike, you'll find the way well-marked as you ascend to the saddle. However, the trail can be quite rocky and difficult in places. The steepness also adds to the strain. While its easy to access and follow, it's still a difficult hike.
