Overview
It was believed by ancient greeks that Mount Zas was the birthplace of Zeus (hence the name).
Description
This moderately trafficked loop is a great option for a more tenacious hiker. The hike starts off fairly level for the first couple of miles as you wind through town and then up a gentle grade to ascend the southeastern hillslope. Once you reach the ridge the grade steepens significantly. Be prepared for a steep and rocky scramble. As you climb you'll pass Aria Spring, Zas Cave, and stunning views. when you reach a junction at the top of the ridge, turn right to head up to the summit! On the way down, continue straight at the junction to complete the loop. The way down in this direction is a much gentler grade than the way you came up.
