Overview
You can enjoy stunning views and some amazing history as you hike this trail. You can do it on your own or as part of a tour group if you want more guidance.
Description
Starting in Prionia, this hike winds up the valley and east and southern ridge of Mount Olympus. You can do the hike in a single very long day, but most people recommend taking two or even three and staying at a rifugio along the way. If you choose to go without a guide, use caution! The trail can be difficult to follow and often skirts cliff edges. Weather can turn quickly and you should not summit if a storm is rolling in.
From the trailhead, head up the valley on a trail that follows a babbling river. As you climb the trail gets more rugged and rocky. Don't take this out-and-back lightly as it can really pose a challenge. Take your time and enjoy the hike. It's not a race to the top, especially if you have a nice comfy bed at a rifugio waiting for you.
