River/Creek
Overview
This hike is a loop that traverses some uneven terrain but takes a scenic route along the stream and ridge.
Description
If you like creeks and streams, this is a perfect hike. This hike has a few of climbs and descents. It begins on a hill and descends as a meander to a rocky and swampy landscape. The climb back up passes through a managed timber harvest, so the hilltop opens up. The next descent is a turn onto the
North South Trail: Segment 3 - Exeter, West Greenwich, Coventry and leads through a lovely pine forest. The path leads to a limited access road where a few trail options present themselves. The option taken is along the stream for a couple miles. The hemlocks are pretty mature, and the rock formation are incredibly nice. The river hike comes arrives at another road that is usually accessible to the public. The hike then loops back by taking the upper trail (almost) ridge trail. Nice views through the trunks of mature oaks.
