Need to Know

In season, there is a charge to get into the park. Off season, there is an honor box to collect park entry fees. An annual membership is very reasonable.

Description

This is a very nice rolling hike through a beech and holly forest. It ends at a meadow close to the end of the Mason Neck peninsula. It ends at a viewing hut overlooking the meadow and then returns via the trail you came in on. Hiking in fall and winter requires paying close attention to the leaf covered trail since trail markers are infrequent. The trail's numerous boardwalks, bridges and erosion control features will help you stay on trail.

Flora & Fauna

Saw numerous birds, including several species of woodpeckers along the trail. The meadow offers many more birding opportunities.
