Need to Know
While Devou Park is very safe, I know of two recent instances where cars have been broken into in this area (around Montague Road.) Consider taking your valuables with you.
Description
This is a good backcountry trail in Devou Park for hiking and mountain biking. Starting near a city of Covington maintenance post, the trail follows the side of a small valley, running parallel to Montague Road. A surprising amount of wildlife lives in this area, such as deer, squirrels, chipmunks, birds, and skunks. The trail hugs the side of the hilltop and banks to the left. Eventually the trail meets with
Goat Path and
Benny Vastine Nature Trail. Follow the widest trail and bank to the right.
After going downhill a little ways, take the only left. The rest of the trail heads downhill until it meets the junction of Montague Road, Deverill Street, and Sleepy Hollow Road. This is a major parking lot for mountain bikers in the park.
Flora & Fauna
