$7 entry for Indiana residents, $10 for nonresidents.
Description
Runs between trail intersection markers 7 on
Tree Lane Loop, 10 and 11 on the Deam Lake Loop. Park at campground or Day Camp lots. Access to the trail at either end requires about 1 or 2 miles hike so part of a 4 or 5 mile total hike. From Day Camp at marker 1, follow
Tree Lane Loop trail up hill, right at marker 2, past marker 6. At marker 7, near the road gate, Three Hills Trail T's with the
Tree Lane Loop, mostly following ridges but with several steep hills, one with 3-4 switchbacks, and one shallow creek crossing. Many vistas from the narrow ridges resting on the tops of amazingly steep hillsides. Surprisingly solid footing only a day after two of rain though could be muddy in places due to some horse traffic. Trail is lightly maintained (downed trees are sawed) for benefit of riders. Hikers will be rewarded with great views, some steepness and solitude. Well worth the effort.
Flora & Fauna
Deer, hawks, buzzards, variety of climax forest trees such as oak, maple, beech, the usual for Southern Indiana. Spring and summer expect ticks and chiggers, DEET is generally effective.
