Diamondback is a one-way trail (ridden counterclockwise for mountain bikers). It is also open to hikers and trail runners but users should be aware that bikes may be traveling downhill quickly in some sections. There is also a wet weather closure program in place at Rattlesnake Ridge.

Need to Know

There are no trash cans or bathrooms on site. Please pack out what you pack in. The closest amenities are about 1 mile away at Pinnacle Mountain State Park.

Description

Diamondback starts where Cliffbrake becomes "hiking only" traffic. Right from the start, it has a short, steep climb and then immediately drops back downhill to an access road. From here, the trail follows the rocky two-track road west across the preserve for about 10 minutes.

When you come to a four-way intersection, take the road to the left that drops down the steep hill. Immediately after you drop into this road, you'll take a turn back to the right to get back on singletrack. From here, the trail heads mostly downhill until it meets up with Mountain Boomer.

Keep in mind this is generally considered a mountain biking trail and riders may or may not be looking out for you.
