The trail is open daily, 7 a.m. to sunset. The park is closed Thanksgiving, Christmas Day, and New Year's Day.
Need to Know
Chaco Culture National Historical Park fees apply. Besides the primitive campground and visitor center, there are no services (food, gas, etc.) in the park or for dozens of miles in any direction.
Description
Begin on the sign for
Pueblo del Arroyo. The
Wetherill Cemetery Trail begins across the parking lot; at the end of the parking lot is the gate and road (no vehicles allowed) to sites including
Kin Klesto, Casa Chiquita, Penasco Blanco, and the Pueblo Alto Loop.
The path to
Pueblo del Arroyo travels for a short distance across the desert before arriving at the ruins of the great house. A path winds around the outside, and through part of, the structure. There are a few stairways on the eastern side of the building.
The trail loops back around to the path that returns to the parking area.
