Family Friendly Short safe hike, although pretty steep for some youngsters.

This path is accessed through the parking lot of Inveraray Castle. It is only open during business hours, and if you're parking, a 3 pound fee is charged.

Need to Know

3 pound parking fee.
Castle hosts a gift shop and cafe.
A visit to the castle is recommended (before tramping through the forest).

Description

From the parking lot, hike downhill to the stone bridge. Cross, and then look for a trail turning up into the woods about 50 feet past the bridge. Follow the well-marked trail until you reach the Dun Na Cuaiche Watchtower. You can't miss it. Along the way, stop to see some ruins as well as some great views off of the backside of the mountain.
