Family Friendly
Wildlife viewing and easy boardwalk path.
Need to Know
Public restrooms may be available in the George Washington Memorial Park before you get on the trail. You'll need to park in the park and head over to the trailhead.
Description
This is an easy out-and-back hike. Expect to see wildlife such as herons and eagles. I wasn't on the trail for 100 yards when a pair of bald eagles flew over the treetops. There are lots of wildflowers and butterflies along the way. It would be a good trail for families with small children. It ends at a boardwalk and viewing platform with views of National Harbor across the river and the Woodrow Wilson Bridge up river.
Flora & Fauna
You have a good chance of seeing eagles, herons, and other birds and you'll see lots of wildflowers in the warmer seasons.
