Overview

A loop in Palisade Interstate Park combining the Shore Trail and Long Path: Section 1. Great trails, a bit rocky. Proper hiking shoes a must. Tracker put the hike at 6.6 miles.

Need to Know

Restrooms located in the police station.

Description

I completed the hike clockwise. Don't start on the paved path -- look for the hiking trail near the police station. Through the forest, cross under the tunnel to a steep, rocky trail, down to an alpine boat basin with a great picnic area. The Shore Trail was amazing, with temperatures in the mid 70s. The breeze off the Hudson River felt great.

The blue/white trail is a tough climb -- very narrow in some parts. Stone steps are in bad condition. Take your time and watch your footing. An aqua trail leads to a small castle with a great view.
