Need to Know
The #1437 is subject to blowdown that can make travel difficult. As of 2018, it had been cleared only through Grasshopper Meadows and out to Cripple Camp shelter. If you plan to do use it as part of a loop with the #1574, it's best to check with the Forest Service district office in Tiller about conditions on the #1437 before committing yourself to it.
Description
This trail leaves the
Lakes Trail #1578 not far east of Cliff Lakes and climbs the north flank of Grasshopper Mountain to a junction with the
Grasshopper Mountain Trail #1580 near Grasshopper Spring. It then crosses the ridge and descends through Grasshopper Meadow to end at a junction with the Acker Divide Trail #1437. It is mainly used to reach the summit of Grasshopper Mountain.
A loop is possible if you descend the #1574 to the Acker Divide Trail #1437 and then go west on that trail, past Mosquito Camp and Little Fish Lake back to the
Lakes Trail #1578.
