A 7-mile loop trail combining the eastern end of the Pine Mountain Trail and the Beaver Pond Trail in F. D. Roosevelt State Park.

Wolfden loop is actually part of a much larger trail system known as the Pine Mountain Trail. There are numerous points on the trail where hikers can view beautiful creeks and waterfalls, a wolf's den (hence the name), a large loblolly pine tree named "Ferney," and some views overlooking the land below Pine Mountain.

A number of backcountry campsites are located on the trail as well. There are parts in the beginning and middle part of the trail that can be difficult to traverse, especially for young children, elderly, or those with mobility issues. Some parts of the trail are particularly rocky and/or slippery and it is recommended that you wear hiking shoes/boots. The trail took 4 hours and 15 minutes with numerous breaks for water and lunch in between, but can be completed sooner by more experienced, in-shape hikers.

Longleaf pine, shortleaf pine, dogwood, maple, pignut hickory and oak are some of the tree species you'll encounter on this trail. Azalea, rhododendron, and mountain laurel are some of the flowers you might run into as well.

As far as animals you might encounter, a wide variety of birds are visible and we ran into the occasional deer track on the trail.
