Description
From the parking area at the end of the road, head towards the picnic area and lake to find the trailhead sign. Follow the Lake Annette Loop signs and yellow diamonds with #4d on them, by going right at the trailhead sign.
Nearing the lake, there is a trail junction with the paved path around the lake. The Lake Annette Loop can be done in either direction. To hike it clockwise, as described here, go left at this trail junction. The trail passes through the picnic area with the beach and lake to the right (southwest).
At the 0.2-mile mark, continuing to follow the lake's shoreline, the trail veers right and heads southwest. From here, the trail is in the fir forest as it runs along the shoreline to loop around beautiful turquoise Lake Annette. As the trail heads southwest Pyramid Mountain can be seen across the lake, to the northwest.
At about the 0.65 mile mark, the trail veers right again to continue following the wooded shoreline, as it now heads northwest. Heading northwest, the Colin Range can be seen in the distance, across the lake.
The trail veers right again at the 1.1-mile mark, passes a little dock with a nearby parking area, and begins to head east. Mount Edith Cavell in the distance to the south, can now be seen across the lake.
After 1.6 miles, the junction with the path from the parking area, is reached. Go left here to return to the parking area.
