Need to Know
Stretches of this trail are thin and can be semi-covered with invasive switchgrass making them difficult to follow.
Description
This trail begins at the intersection of several paths, namely the
HoCo Thru Trail coming in from the north and Woodstock Road. From this intersection, the trail heads north and begins to curve around a hill, staying mostly flat for about 0.3 miles. Along this stretch, the trail crosses a small stream as well as the gasline right-of-way for which it is named.
The trail follows along south of the notable
Davis Branch tributary, giving the hiker a view of the gorge that the stream has carved out over time. Here, the trail changes character, cutting back south and climbing the hill it had been skirting with a steady slope.
