Description

From the dry wash of Big Hole Wash Trail, stay in the creek bed where the Big Hole Wash turns right. Enjoy the rounded cobbles and sand for 0.25 miles before taking a left and traversing across a mid-level bench on the side of the larger canyon. At the high point on the trail (about mile 2), you cross very briefly into Wyoming for a hundred yards before diving back into the Centennial State.

Another 0.25-mile descent brings you to the junction of the Ruby Wash Trail (left) and Cheyenne Rim Trail (right). Turn left to connect back into Red Mountain Open Space. Right takes you to the higher trails with access to Soapstone Prairie Natural Area.
