Description
The Diamond Peak Trail has a great view at the top, but it is by no means easy to get there. The trail is quite steep for a majority of the time and is often on loose scree. There is little to no tree cover. It starts out right away with a steep up in a rock field that is not too difficult. The next section of the trail up to to the first summit is all on steep loose scree. The trail can be hard to follow here, but just head up to the top of the peak while trying to avoid any rock slides. From the top of the first peak, most of the elevation is complete. From there, you walk along the ridge to Diamond Peak. The trail can be a little technical at times, but it is certainly doable. Be sure to be extra careful you don't send any rocks down the side of the mountain as they pick up speed fast.
The view from the top is amazing, with views on all sides of the surrounding wilderness. The hike down is a bit easier, as you can sort of slide down the scree field, just expect a lot of rocks in your shoes!
