Description
Easy, family friendly, 1.2-mile (one way) doubletrack gravel trail through Lincoln National Forest connecting Sleepy Grass Picnic Area and Sleepy Grass Campground. Follows a closed Forest Service road and is well-maintained with small, easily hikeable gravel. Best to park at the Sleepy Grass Picnic Area (north trailhead) and start at the trailhead just past the bathrooms.
It is all (easy) uphill from the picnic area to the campground, and around 0.8 miles you reach a fork in the road with two gates -- go through the wooden one on the left (east) side. The trail then continues to the Sleepy Grass Campground (south trailhead). Can also be done from the campground, but the campground is a fee area and free parking may be unavailable if you are not also camping there.
Flora & Fauna
