The access road close at 9am; use the cableway after 9.
Overview
Alpe di Siusi (SeiserAlm) is Europe's largest plateau and offers a spectacular view of Sciliar, Sasso Piatto, Sasso Lungo and other peaks of the Dolomites.
This is a great loop on the Alpe di Sius and can be done by the whole family and even by bike on well-marked path with various refreshment points.
Description
The loop start at Compatsh, where you can park the car or arrivals with the cable car. At Compatsh you can find a bar, hotels, restaurant and bike rental.
The initial part of trail is on paved road, closed to traffic, and can also be done with the chair lift (for a fee) to Alpenhotel Panorama.
From Alpenhotel Panorama, you then follow the dirt road and then
Path 7.
The footpath is well marked without any great difference in elevation and crosses the Alpe meadows, where you can see marmots and deer (if you're lucky), as well as birds, cows, horses, and donkeys.
For a lunch break, I recommended stopping off at Rifugio Zallinger near the end of
Path 7. From here continue on a dirt road until you connect back to the paved Saltria Road.
When you arrive at Saltria, you can choose to continue on foot to complete the loop or you can take the bus back to your starting point.
