Description

The McKeldin Rapids Trail begins at one of the most scenic locations in the Patapsco watershed, the rapids it is named for. After a brief slope with cut steps, it opens to the beach side of a peaceful pond at the base of the rapids. The trail then heads back into the woods to follow the river as it winds around a bend. The trail is generally very flat and has few obstacles, although there is a section that crosses a sheer rock face on a slant. This crossing should be taken carefully, especially when wet. The east end of this trail connects with several others allowing for a larger loop around the McKeldin area if desired.
