Description
This trail intersects the short loop near the unnamed pond. At the intersection, head south (away from the cropland) and immediately hike down a steep hill. At the bottom, the trail follows the shore of Brookville Lake. This trail sits on a peninsula jutting out into the water, so throughout this portion of the trail are wide, scenic views of the lake. Around 0.70 miles in, the trail begins uphill, and stays mostly uphill until the trail meets up again with the short loop. Follow the gravel road to the right to return to the parking lot.
A common route people use for this trail is to start on the short loop, turning right soon after leaving the parking lot. Upon arriving at the pond, taking another right onto this trail, and finishing out on the gravel road. The entire route is about 3 miles, intermediate difficulty, and passes the mound, the pond, and winds along the lakeshore. This is the most scenic route.
