Family Friendly
An easy walk to see a big waterfall.
The roads to Golden and Silver Falls State Natural Area are open all year. The parking area can hold 10-12 vehicles and hosts a vault toilet.
Need to Know
The falls flow all year but are at their most energetic in late winter and early spring. Silver Falls can disappear during the summer, particularly in dry years.
Description
From the parking area, cross Silver Creek to a fork at the base of a large tree. Take the fork to the right for a short walk on a wide and easy trail through the forest to a boulder field at the base of Golden Falls. The trail becomes more uneven near its end in the boulders at the base of the falls. It's not hard to scramble on these boulders to get a closer look at the falls or to photograph the falls. Just be careful as these rocks can be quite slippery due to spray or rain.
